Question: How can i get there in the fashion industry?

Well I've always had one of the best unique minds and imagination in creativity... and I've decided to take a career in fashion designing, I'd figure since I'm in love in all sorts of art (music is a great influence in my life), I'd want to work for a haute couture company one day (since i love fashion, especially avant- garde fashion). I just need to know what to do and how to start.. I mean i know how to draw and sketch my creations.. but is it required to have sewing skills too? and what schools are good? Art creation is what I'm good at! thanks! (p.s. Nicolas Ghesquiere and Bjork are one of my greatest influences)

You are definitely going to need to know how to sew, trust me I'm trying to become a fashion designer myself(I'm going to be a senior in high school) It's good you know how to sketch and are creative(a major plus)I myself am tired of seeing the same thing(

Join the fashion show :P tehe sorry since u say u are unique thats a good starter. try entering contests in magazines and etc that will feature ur designs and ur designs will spread. its hard u either make it or break it. you can make millions or end up in the streets good luck

Interning for a designer (like Whitney on The City) also helps but is kind of hard to do Try to get into a Design school like Parsons Just try sketching out what you want or find pictures that inspired your look! You should have knowledge of sewing and be able to sew :p Heres a sight with things you shuld know and how to have a career in fshion design:)
