Question: Men's fashion, i'm a 28 year old guy who is fashionably challenged....?
(Posted by: infinate_cold on 2009-07-02 00:16:06)
Like my heading says I am a 28 year old guy who knows nothing of fashion. I have been into fitness now for about 5 years. I am 6'4 " 200lbs right now. I'm not totally ripped but girls are starting to often compliment me and say I look like a model and all this stuff... only afterward they always make fun of my clothes. I just usually shop at Kohl's because my sister works there and she get's me good deals on stuff and is generally fun to shop with. I usually get T- shirts that are pretty colorful or wild or have funny sayings on them, and I get like levi's lowrising boot cut pants, or I like cargo shorts. The magazines I read usually don't even show guys in street clothes let alone tell me where to shop or how to look good. If they do, they tend to show men's suits and more formal fashion. I don't want to look like any certain type of style like "emo " or "rap " or whatever, I can't classify myself like that because I am very diverse, also if I went by what type of music I like (minimal) I would dress all metrosexual and weird, and I am really NOT feminine at ALL so I don't want to be like teeny bopper trendy, but I want to learn to dress like a really hot cajual/ semi- casual 25- 35 year old guy. I guess what I'm asking here is girls, if you were dating a guy kinda like me how would you dress me? What stores would we shop at etc. I want links! Or guys, where do you shop? again I want links! Or, girls when you're out at clubs or bars, what style of clothing is eyecatching or appealing to you? I know most of this stuff is gonna come down to just trying things on and then going with what I feel best in, but I want to go someplace new besides Kohl's. Where do hot guys (who aren't girly) my age shop? I worked really hard to get my body in shape, but I am still failing to be hot just because of my clothes. That is easily fixable so that's what I'm gonna try!

Well, look around at different shops. Urban outfitters and H &M are good starting points. Maybe a bit young for a guy closing in on 30. Look at some men's fashion magazines, like GQ. Those should point you in a good direction.

Try new stores, go in each store thats in your area and look in it real good to see whats all there so u can really know all the stores in your area, thats what i love doing, and they get new stuff all the time so i go back all the time. for guys i like when they wear urban hip hop style. give it a chance i mean its pretty casusal, stuff like sean jean, south pole, akademiks, zoo york, coogi, rockawear, ecko, g-unit, famous stars & straps, ..theres tons of brands, stuff with graphic designs are great and patterns. just plain jeans or cackies with a soild tee and solid sweater can get boreing, tight pants and tight tops are cute on men as well as loose ones depends on what u like, your gona have to do some searching and take time ont trying to find things that are gona match and all that so just go to store to store and site to site just look around. answer mine? its about what body shape you prefer, pic inside !!!!answers.yahoo.com/ question/ index;_ylt= AhZK.n_hx9JSZWc2K6c5dFTsy6IX;_ylv= 3?qid= 20090701230430AA1vN2V

To me, the hottest style is just simple jeans and a t-shirt. jeans should be a darker wash for younger guys like your age, maybe with fading or small rips to make them look more worn but not too tattered if you know what i mean. if you say you're pretty muscled, go with a tighter fitting t-shirt [not feminine, just shows off the muscles well!] i'd try stores like Urban Outfitters [expensive though], or Macy's has some good stuff here and there if you really look. urbanoutfitters.com/ urban/ catalog/ category.jsp?_DARGS= / urban/ catalog/ common/ highlited_itemcount.jsp_A &_DAV= true &itemCount= 60 &navCount= 7 &navAction= poppushpush &popId= MENS &pushId= MENS_APPAREL &id= M_COLL_STRIPES2 &090622mapp things like this ^ can be really cool in a classy, non-feminine way. you could pair those shirts with like a denim jacket or a leather jacket too. or... if you really like the graphic tees and that, try to stay away from shirts with too much wording on them, because they can get lame and cheesy. try something like the first couple rows of this page: urbanoutfitters.com/ urban/ catalog/ category.jsp?popId= MENS &navAction= poppushpushpush &isSortBy= true &navCount= 21 &pushId= M_APP_TEESSHORT &prepushId= MENS_APPAREL &id= M_APP_TEESSHORT_ARTIST if you were going to go for jeans, try something like: urbanoutfitters.com/ urban/ catalog/ productdetail.jsp?itemdescription= true &itemCount= 60 &startValue= 1 &selectedProductColor= &sortby= &id= 15448012 &parentid= M_APP_JEANS &sortProperties= + subCategoryPosition,+ product.marketingPriority,-product.startDate &navCount= 90 &navAction= poppushpush &color= &pushId= M_APP_JEANS &popId= MENS_APPAREL &prepushId= dark wash, rugged looking. you could also still be casual while going for something like a button-down oxford type shirt with jeans. wear it unbuttoned or buttoned part-way so it's less formal: urbanoutfitters.com/ urban/ catalog/ category.jsp?popId= MENS &navAction= poppushpush &isSortBy= true &navCount= 54 &pushId= MENS_APPAREL &id= M_APP_BUTTONDOWNSHIRTS these are good, and you could wear them any way. [keep in mind that you can find these styles in lots of stores, i just used urban outfitters as an example] hope this helps!! = ]

I loooooooove dressin my man (he's 27 and a marine) in Cut & Sew by Marc Ecko. You can get his line at Macy's. I would suggest that you invest in a few nice pairs of jeans and at least one of the blazers, a few hoodies maybe a light and a dark color, the shirts are casual but stylish so a few of those too. He also makes the BEST watches! You can google marc ecko watches, because some of the older ones are not available retail anymore. Anyhow, here's the link for some hoodies: bit.ly/ 15Ahfn Love this blazer: bit.ly/ ypg7J Here's the macys line: bit.ly/ HCGUD
